Meet Augustine Mendoza

When I was 16, I found myself hooked on porn and trapped in a cycle of shame. But one moment with Jesus at an altar at a youth conference changed everything for me. From that moment of encounter with the goodness and grace of God, I resolved to follow Jesus wholeheartedly - leaving a lifestyle of sin and compromise and choose to journey as a disciple of Jesus.
I did not overcome my struggle with pornography overnight. It took years of mentorship, accountability, prayer, and renewing my mind in the Bible. I’m more in love with Jesus then I was at 16, I’m married to an amazing woman of God, leading next generation ministry, and helping young men overcome the same struggle that I had.
The Sonship Podcast is something I’ve felt important to do because I believe God wants to use my story, my experiences, and my resources to help other young men overcome their struggle as well.
Having earned my Bachelor’s degree in Ministry & Leadership and also my Masters of Arts in Practical Theology, I’ve been energized to engage and equip the next generation to be more like Jesus as they navigate their relationships, careers, and culture. ‘m actively serving the next generation of young adults in a variety of ministry outlets - small groups, preaching, teaching, and facilitating leadership development.

Meet Chandler Petrak
“For the creation eagerly waits with anticipation for God’s sons to be revealed” (Romans 8:19).
When I was 16, I had a life-changing encounter with Jesus at a youth camp in Ohio. As I knelt at the altar, the weight of God’s presence overwhelmed me, and I fell to the ground, weeping under His power. In that moment, I told the Lord, “I will serve You and preach forever.” From that night on, my life was set on a course of wholehearted devotion. I began traveling to serve leaders in ministry, which deepened my love for healthy church life and authentic community.
At the same time, I fought a decade-long battle with lust—a struggle that often left me feeling trapped in shame. But God’s grace is greater. Through discipleship, accountability, and renewing my mind in His Word, I found true freedom. That journey deepened my passion for helping other young men overcome the same struggles and step into the identity and authority they have as sons of God.
I’ve also developed a profound love for God’s Word—not just to know it but to experience it. My life’s mission is to bridge biblical literacy with biblical encounter, helping others move beyond information into true transformation. That passion led me to pursue biblical studies and ministry—earning degrees in Biblical Literature, then Divinity, and now working toward a Doctorate!
Through it all, I’ve been blessed to have my wife by my side, supporting and walking with me in this journey of faith and ministry. Her love and wisdom have been an incredible gift as we pursue God’s calling together.
The Sonship Podcast was born out of this mission. It’s a space where we talk about biblical masculinity, overcoming struggles, and walking as true sons of God. No more shame, no more striving—just men stepping into the freedom and authority they were made for.
